Thanks Sandra. Actually – full disclosure – this is a grasshopper, not a cricket. But Jiminy Grasshopper did not have the same ring, and the Walt Disney character Jiminy Cricket, looks a lot like a grasshopper. Crickets, grasshoppers and locusts are all from the same family, and the differences are in the legs, antennae and habits. This little guy has a short antenna and is active during the day, characteristic of grasshoppers. That is impressive – crisp focus, nice color balance. Good job, iPod! (I can’t give it any credit for subject and composition, though – you’ll have to accept the congratulations for those 🙂 )
Thanks Sharon. I shot this mostly on faith – it was so sunny that I couldn’t see the iPod screen very well – tried to set it up as best I could and hoped for the best.
How do you tell the difference between a grasshopper, a locust, and a cricket? Is it the color?
Great pic, esp. with just your iPod.
