  1. Those cookies look amazingly like the cookies my hubby and I made together for the first time. Maybe there are only so many colors and decorations you can do to a cookie.

As for the carrots, that is the second time in my life that I have seen/heard about leaving out carrots for Santa (or presumably for the reindeer). Is it an English custom?

    • Interesting Sandra. As far as I know, it is an American custom. Children leave carrots out for the reindeer. In the past you’d see one long carrot, but since the so-called “baby carrots” have become widely available in grocery stores here, one tends to see those more. And since there are 8 reindeer, plus Rudolph, one could leave a small carrot for each.

As for the cookies, I used to make white, yellow, green and red frosting, although the red always turned out pink. Lately I’ve been lazy though, so I make white and green, buy a tube of red, and then use the various Christmas sprinkles to fill in. We all had fun decorating the cookies, including 3 1/2 year old Maddie, who did a pretty good job.

    • We had kids at our house for Christmas again for the first time in a while, and it definitely made the day more fun and magical. I wish my grandkids lived closer. Sigh.

Don't leave yet. Tell me what's on your mind.
