Timoleague Abbey ruins was a study in windows. The windows are what first caught my eye when we stopped there. I’ve picked some of my favorites for this photo challenge, all looking from the inside out.
A long look through the ruined abbey to the triple lancet window.
Self-made window – looking from the inside out through a hole in the ruins.
Another look from the inside out – looking out onto Argideen estuary.

Great idea for this subject Donna. Love these.
Thanks Ann. My Ireland photos have sure come in handy.
Great pics – those lancet windows are a marvel. It looks its age but still holds the mystery of the lives lived there. Lots of fodder for a good historical mystery!
Hmm, maybe you better start writing Sandra. The monks in the abbey were thought to do some pretty heavy trading with the Spanish, because of their location on the estuary. Sure you could find some intrigue there.
Awesome pics! 🙂
thanks Mark.
Beautiful!
Thanks PW.
The last one is my favorite 🙂
Thanks. I had a hard time selecting which photos to use, because the whole ruin was windows, so I just stuck to the inside looking out ones.
I enjoyed looking out to the countryside around the Abbey. Great photos.
Thanks Jake and Maggie.
Nice view of the place great subject for this windows theme.
Nice! What a cool place. Love the natural window….stunning!
Thanks Angelia, and thanks for stopping by.
Timoleague Abbey is a great photography subject! Beautiful photos – looking from the inside out. Gorgeous entry!
Thanks so much Theresa. Have you been there?
I would love to go to an abbey…nice photos 🙂
I don’t know about the rest of Europe, but there were plenty in Ireland. Probably anywhere where religions have been, there will be abbeys.
Great pics! Where in Ireland was this?
It is southwest Ireland, near Kinsale.
Nice pictures. That’s a really pretty place. Windows are interesting. It’s like you’re looking into someone else’s life by looking into where they live or work or whatever.
I do think that Ireland, and in particular many of its ruins, are perhaps the most beautiful and interesting things I’ve photographed so far, and so different from home too.
